Attorney General-elect Charlie Crist has appointed Tampa lawyer Chris Kise to serve as Florida's solicitor general, representing the state in important cases.

"Chris Kise is a remarkable lawyer and will represent the people of Florida with great distinction," Crist said.

Kise is a partner in the Tampa office of the Gray Harris law firm and serves as statewide chairman of the firm's white collar defense and corporate compliance practice group. He is a Florida State University law graduate and served as managing editor and articles editor at the FSU Law Review.

He will replace former state Rep. Tom Warner, who became Florida's first solicitor general in 1999 under Attorney General Bob Butterworth.
