Marine Corps Pfc. Jorge A. Granados, son of Luz H. Cruz of Largo, has completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. He is a 2002 graduate of Clearwater Central Catholic High School.

Marine Corps Maj. John B. Davis, son of Mary P. and W. Hugh Davis of St. Petersburg, recently reported for duty with Marine Aircraft Group 39, Camp Pendleton, Calif. He is a 1985 graduate of St. Petersburg Catholic High School and a 1990 graduate of the University of Florida. He joined the Marine Corps in August 2000.

Marine Corps Pvt. Matthew K. Mitchell, son of Carolyn A. and Kenneth J. Mitchell of St. Petersburg, has completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. He is a 2002 graduate of Largo High School.

Navy Chief Petty Officer Christopher C. Lovelace, son of Clair B. Lovelace of St. Petersburg, recently re-enlisted for three years while serving with Fleet Surgical Team Five, Naval Station, San Diego. He is a 1977 graduate of Dover High School, Dover, Del., and joined the Navy in September 1985.

Marine Corps Pvt. Joseph M. Vallely, son of Susan M. Watson of Pinellas Park and Robert Vallely of Largo, has completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. He is a 2002 graduate of Dixie Hollins High School.

Navy Hospitalman Apprentice Chris T. Lumpkin, son of Jimmie L. Lumpkin of Milledgeville, Ga., and Kim Lamar of St. Petersburg, has graduated from the Basic Hospital Corps School at Naval Hospital Corps School, Great Lakes, Ill. He is a 2001 graduate of Lakewood High School and joined the Navy in June 2002.
