Kent State win streak ends at 21

OLEAN, N.Y. -- Marques Green had 23 points and 13 assists to lead St. Bonaventure to a 93-80 victory against Kent State on Saturday, ending the Golden Flashes' 21-game regular-season win streak.

The Bonnies went on a 14-0 run that included four consecutive 3-pointers early in the second half to lead 65-40.

St. Bonaventure's Patricio Prato scored 22 and Mike Gansey 19, including 5-of-8 on 3-pointers. The Bonnies made 8 of 19 3-pointers.

Antonio Gates led Kent State, which won its last 15 last season and first six this season, with 22 points and six assists. Kent State made 12 of 26 3-pointers, including 7-of-13 in the first half.

AKRON 97, RADFORD 64: John Hollingsworth had 23 points 7 rebounds, 6 steals and 6 assists for the host Zips. Darryl Peterson scored nine during a 12-4 run in the last 2:46 of the first to give Akron a 36-19 lead.

TOLEDO 90, ARKANSAS ST. 73: Keith Triplett and Sammy Villegas scored 19 for the host Rockets. The Indians made it 66-60 with 7:35 left, but the Rockets went on a 10-2 run to seal it.

LAFAYETTE 54, UMASS 52: A 3-pointer by Rob Dill and a free throw by Andrew Pleick during the final seconds boosted the Leopards in Springfield, Mass. The Minutemen, who trailed for most of the game before going ahead three times late in the second, led 52-48 with 2:03 left. But Dill scored the next five and Pleick the last one.

TROY ST. 73, DUQUESNE 69: Ben Fletcher scored 22 and made five of the Trojans' 14 3-pointers in the semifinals of the San Juan Shootout in Caguas, Puerto Rico. Troy State plays Auburn in today's final.

BYU 69, CAL-SANTA BARBARA 56: Travis Hansen scored 19 and the Cougars extended the nation's longest home win streak to 40.

OBITUARY: Hank Luisetti, the three-time All-America forward from Stanford who popularized the running one-handed shot, died at 86 in San Francisco. He had been ill for four months with an undisclosed ailment. Mr. Luisetti changed the sport, defined by the traditional two-handed set shot, when he introduced his one-handed shot at Madison Square Garden on Dec.30, 1936, when Stanford ended Long Island University's 43-game win streak.

UCF holds off rally

ORLANDO -- Ed Dotson had 19 points and nine rebounds as Central Florida fought off a rally by Florida Gulf Coast for a 68-63 victory. Ryan Hopkins scored 17 during the second half and made three 3-pointers during the final four minutes for the Eagles. Trailing 64-51 with 1:37 left, FGCU went on a 12-3 run to make it 67-63 with 17 seconds left. But after UCF's Troy Lindbeck made a free throw, a final 3-pointer by Hopkins fell short.

SHAW 69, TAMPA 58: James Mereus had 16 points and 12 rebounds in a losing effort for the host Spartans.
