Cowboys owner: no decision yet

IRVING, Texas -- Cowboys owner Jerry Jones insisted Sunday that he has not decided whether to fire coach Dave Campo, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Once the season ends Sunday against Washington, Jones said he would make a decision.

"It's going to be quick. It's going to be very quick," Jones said. " ... I certainly haven't started the official process with the league, nor have I made my mind up."

Jones said a new league rule requires the club to notify the commissioner before a head-coaching change is made. Jones said he has not notified the league that he is going to make a change.

The Morning News reported that Jones has decided to fire Campo.

Jones met with Bill Parcells, who won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants and took New England to another, for five hours Wednesday, fueling speculation that Campo's tenure as coach would end after the season.

Campo is 15-32 in two-plus seasons and is only the fourth man since 1970 to lose at least 10 games in each of his first three seasons as coach.

Jones said he discussed the NFL and the Cowboys with Parcells but did not offer him a job.

BENGALS: There were perhaps 25,000-30,000 fans for the team's first home win of the season. The past three home games drew the three smallest crowds in Paul Brown Stadium's three-year history. The Bengals sold 43,544 tickets for the 65,341-seat facility. ... Running back Corey Dillon bruised his left elbow and missed the fourth quarter.

CHIEFS: Safety Greg Wesley injured his hamstring and did not return.

COLTS: Peyton Manning became the first quarterback to pass for 4,000 yards in four consecutive seasons, breaking a tie with Dan Marino and Dan Fouts. Also, Marvin Harrison moved within one 100-yard receiving game of tying Michael Irvin's single-season record of 11.

FALCONS: Fullback Bob Christian fumbled on a hit by Detroit's Barrett Green that left him unconscious. He was carted off the field after being revived and did not return.

GIANTS: The team is 6-2 since coach Jim Fassel assumed play-calling from offensive coordinator Sean Payton.

JAGUARS: In the third quarter, quarterback Mark Brunell pulled up lame with a hamstring strain. With that, the three players Jacksonville depended on to make plays this year -- Brunell, Jimmy Smith (shoulder) and Fred Taylor (ankle) -- all missed portions of the game with injuries.

PACKERS: Green Bay lost its best defender in safety Darren Sharper, who sprained his right knee on his league-leading seventh interception return in the first half. Sharper took helmet in his knee and will be re-examined today.

RAIDERS: Cornerback Charles Woodson returned after missing two games with a leg injury, but did not start and was not in uniform for the second half.

RAMS: Quarterback Marc Bulger left on the fourth play from scrimmage after hurting his back. X-rays taken at the stadium were inconclusive. He went to the hospital and had a CT scan, which revealed no broken bones, and will have tests after returning from Seattle to St. Louis with the team. ... Linebacker Tommy Polley didn't return after spraining his right ankle in the third quarter.

REDSKINS: Bruce Smith got two sacks, leaving him four behind Reggie White's career record. ... Ladarius Jackson ruptured a knee tendon and punt returner Bruce Branch sprained his right ankle.

SEAHAWKS: Shaun Alexander's two touchdowns gave him 17 for the season, breaking the team record of 16 set by Chris Warren in 1995.

TEXANS: Washington sacked David Carr three times, giving Carr a dubious league record of 73 times sacked in a season. Carr surpassed the record held by Randall Cunningham, sacked 72 times with Philadelphia in 1986. ... Safety Gary Walker sprained his left elbow and safety Ramon Walker sprained his right knee.

VIKINGS: Kickoff specialist Hayden Epstein will have surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
