CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Darren Brooks scored 21 and had seven rebounds to lead the Salukis.

Southern Illinois had three other players in double figures. Jermaine Dearman had 17, and Stetson Hairston and Kent Williams each added 15.

The Salukis outscored Cal State Northridge 41-34 in the first half.

The Matadors hit 55.1 percent from the floor to 53.3 percent for Southern Illinois. But the Salukis put up 60 shots to 49 for the Cal State Northridge, and Southern Illinois outrebounded the Matadors 30-27.
