Two New River roads in the worksBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published December 24, 2002 WESLEY CHAPEL -- Before New River Township grows to its planned 2,000 to 4,000 homes, the Wesley Chapel community will need good roads to serve its residents. That's starting to happen. Engineering has begun on two four-lane roads that would serve New River: the Zephyrhills Bypass (a westward extension of the Eiland Boulevard) and a north-south road that would run from State Road 54 to the bypass. New River's Swiss-born developer, Beat Kahli, is sharing the cost of the roads, estimated at $24-million, with Pasco County. M.R. Seller Engineering Co. of Orlando is designing the roads. The first of about 200 homes are built in the community, which occupies a plain, watered by a creek called New River, north of SR 54, about 4 miles east of Interstate 75. The bypass will run from Eiland Boulevard to Curley Road, offering drivers an east-west alternative to SR 54. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
