Citrus: Man held in church lot rape

HOMOSASSA -- An Illinois man was arrested and charged with sexual battery after a woman accused him of forcing her to have sex in a church parking lot early Wednesday.

Brian Paul Rose, 27, is being held without bail at the Citrus County jail. According to a Citrus County Sheriff's Office arrest report, a woman said Rose flagged her down in the parking lot of Mike's Pub in Homosassa about midnight Wednesday to ask for a ride. She agreed, and pulled over in a church parking lot when Rose said he needed to go to the bathroom. After she stopped, Rose dragged her by the hair out of the car, the arrest report said.

The woman said he threatened to kill her and forced her to have intercourse. She reported Rose to the Sheriff's Office, and deputies arrested him at the Circle K in Homosassa about 5 a.m. He told authorities he did have sex with the woman but said it was because he was under the influence of alcohol.
