Family fun

LOWRY PARK ZOO: "Noon" Year's Eve celebration counts down to noon with an apple cider toast. Events include kids games, arts and crafts, party hats and noisemakers and Radio Disney. Begins 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the zoo, 1101 W Sligh Ave., Tampa. (813) 935-8552 or www.lowryparkzoo.com. Free with regular admission of $9.50 adults, $8.50 50 and older, $5.95 ages 3-11.

CELEBRATE SAFE: No-alcohol family event at Busch Gardens features music throughout the park. Rides will be operating, and fireworks are scheduled for midnight. Benefits Hillsborough Education Foundation. 8 p.m.-1 a.m. Tuesday at Busch Gardens, 3605 Bougainvillea Ave., Tampa. TECO ENERGY PARADE AND YBOR BOWL BLAST: This pre-Outback Bowl celebration features TECO Energy Parade, pep rally with college marching bands and cheerleaders and a fireworks show. The parade with floats and 30 marching bands steps off at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Seventh Avenue and 20th Street in Ybor City, moves west on Seventh to 14th Street. Bands from Florida and Michigan battle after the parade. Fireworks are at 8:15 p.m. (813) 874-2695. Free.

TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING: The New Year's Eve Bolt Bash features the Lightning against the Ottawa Senators and parties before and after the game. There's also live music outside on the plaza and a "Kids Safe Zone" with games. Game tickets are $8 to $155, and there are packages available for $149-$189 per couple that include tickets, food and party. The buffet begins at 5 p.m., game at 7 p.m. Tuesday, St. Pete Times Forum, 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa. (813) 301-6600.

Comedy

BREWMASTER'S: Venerable local comedian G. David Howard performs at 10 p.m. Tuesday. The evening, including appetizers, dinner, champagne, hats and noisemakers is $65. 401 E Second St., Indian Rocks Beach. (727) 515-8059.

SIDE SPLITTERS COMEDY CLUB: Hypnotist Ken Whitener performs two shows. The first, at 7:30 p.m., is $15 and includes champagne. The second, at 10:30 p.m., is $35 for champagne, music, dancing and a continental breakfast. Cascades Plaza, 12938 N Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa. (813) 960-1197.

TAMPA IMPROV: Comics Maryellen Hooper and Vinnie Favorito perform two shows. The first, at 7:15 p.m., is $35 without dinner or $50 with dinner. Pop music

B.B. KING: The 77-year-old ambassador of the blues plays at 9 p.m. at Mahaffey Theater, 400 First St. S, St. Petersburg. The show is expected to let out just in time to see the fireworks from First Night. $39.50-$65. (727) 892-5767.

Southern Culture on the Skids
