Two accused of lawn vandalismBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published December 28, 2002 SPRING HILL -- Two Spring Hill men have been cited in connection with a string of vandalism incidents in Plantation Estates in recent weeks. Andrew Allen, 19, of 13177 Don Loop and John Pokrinchak, 20, of 2490 Rim Drive were issued misdemeanor citations for petty theft on Thursday, said Hernando sheriff's spokesman Lt. Joe Paez. Both men told deputies that when they got bored, they would drive around the neighborhood at night and throw garbage cans at mailboxes, an activity they called "bowling." They also admitted to damaging lawn ornaments, authorities said. The men were cited after residents of Plantation Estates started staying up at night, taking turns watching for the vandals. One resident said vandals had slashed his inflatable Santa, stuffed a snowman with firecrackers and run over a reindeer sleigh. Detectives are still investigating and may issue more citations, Paez said. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
