Man dies after being hit by car

TAMPA -- A pedestrian was fatally injured by a car Friday night while crossing Waters Avenue.

William L. Spade, 45, of 7100 N Nebraska Ave., was walking south across Waters at N Hamner Avenue about midnight, Tampa police said.

As he stepped into the westbound lane, he was struck by a 1991 Volkswagen driven by Ivan Tarlev of 8312 Steamboat Lane in Temple Terrace.

Spade died at St. Joseph's Hospital. No charges have been filed against Tarlev. Police were still investigating Saturday.
