ST. PETERSBURG -- King pushed past St. Petersburg Catholic at the beginning of the second quarter and kept pushing until the Barons were beaten into submission 85-65 in a quarterfinal of the Blue Jacket Holiday Classic.
"That was an old-fashioned butt-whipping," Barons coach Mike Moran said.
It didn't start that way. SPC was in control at the end of the first quarter, leading 26-15 behind Travis Karto's 10 points.
At the start of the second quarter, King went to a fullcourt press, forcing six turnovers. And Marquis McCullough's 20 points helped bring the Lions to within 44-42.
McCullough finished with 34 points, and Tony Burkhart added 16. Karto led the Barons with 25 points, and Aaron Holmes and Chad Radosevich added 12.
