TAMPA PALMS -- FedEx Santa Richard Daley had another good year of delivering toys and treats to hundreds of children this Christmas season. But this year he expanded the bounty to include food baskets.
Daley, who works for FedEx, said he and his helpers delivered 629 pounds of food to Metropolitan Ministries as well as to migrant farm worker families in eastern Hillsborough County. And 678 toys, as well as 6,000 game tokens donated by Chucky Cheese, were given to area youngsters.
"It was quite a big undertaking," said Daley's wife, Pastora. "It takes a lot of organizing."
The Jamaican-born Daley, who lives in the Wyndham subdivision, started the toy project five years ago after receiving a remote-controlled car -- a first for the then 47-year-old Daley. He had so much fun with the car that he wanted to share the experience with disadvantaged children.
