Gary Smith’s daily ritual is numbing. His mother, Florida, can’t talk or walk by herself. Gary bathes her, shaves her legs and moves her around the house. “If you had told me five years ago I’d be doing all this stuff, I’d have said, ‘I’m out of here.’ But one thing grabs onto another and I’m doing it all.”
