Unreliable voter lists
Until the state can verify its voting lists, which used to prevent double registrants, felons and the mentally incapacitated from voting, it shouldn't use one.
It's time to sever ties with THAP
The city of Tampa was slow to act, but it now looks serious about cutting its ties to the Tampa-Hillsborough Action Plan, the scandal-plagued housing agency that's supposed to serve the poor. The quicker the city moves, the better. THAP's management and legal and money troubles are only getting worse, and the city needs to take bold steps to protect housing clients and the taxpayers.

Taking jobs, alienating customers
For weeks Americans have been told that the outsourcing of high-tech jobs is good for our economy. So said Greg Mankiw, chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers in a recent report signed by President Bush. So, too, writes Thomas Friedman of the New York Times in articles praising the rise of call centers in India used for everything from making airline reservations and reading medical X-ray films to providing tech support for American computer firms.
