  • BIZO, AGNES MAE KNIGHTON, 76, of Hernando, died Friday (Jan. 11, 2002) in Inverness. Born in Southwick, Mass., she came here in 1982 from Woodville, N.H. She was a homemaker, a member and past president of Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4252, Hernando, and ran the thrift shop at the VFW for cancer aid and research. She was Lutheran. Survivors include her son, Frederick Thacher, Boston; a daughter, Carol Garini Moore, Holder; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Hooper Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inverness.
  • NESEMANN, BERNARD HARRY, 74, of Homosassa, died Friday (Jan. 11, 2002) at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness. Born in Munising, Mich., he was a winter resident from Sheboygan, Wis. A jeweler, he owned and operated Nesemann Diamond Center, Plymouth, Wis., before retiring in 1994. An avid cross county skier, biker and snowmobiler, he was a past member of the Watchmakers Association in Wisconsin. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Margaret; a son, Michael, Plymouth; three daughters, Christine Wieser, Plymouth, Teresa Konz, Howards Grove, Wis., and Ann Hey, Brillion, Wis.; two brothers, William, Plymouth, and Ted, Baraboo, Wis.; a sister, Helen Carlson, Homosassa; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.   • VOELKER, MINNA A., 96, of Beverly Hills, died Thursday (Jan. 10, 2002) in Lecanto. Born in Germany, she came here in 1969 from Garden City, N.Y. She was a member of the German-American Club and the Beverly Hills Community Church.   • WILLIAMS, GERTRUDE MADELINE, 86, of Inverness, formerly of Tampa, died Saturday (Jan. 12, 2002) at Mariner Health Care Center, Inverness. Born in Tarentum, Pa., she came here six years ago from Tampa. She was an accounting secretary for Oldt-Waring Appliance Co., Tampa, and a member of the St. Scholastica Parish, Lecanto.   • BOUTWELL, RONNIE BRASTON, 82, of Spring Hill, formerly of Mulberry, died Saturday (Jan. 12, 2002) at Oak Hill Hospital, Brooksville. Born in Pearson, Ga., he came here in 1993 from Mulberry. He worked many years for a wholesale parts supply in the Lakeland area and was a Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Doris; a son, Ronnie, Lakeland; three daughters, Barbara Salzan, Kerhonkson, N.Y., Janie Boutwell, DeBary, and Linda Morrison, Lakeland; a brother, S.C. She was a retired nurse, specializing in cardiac care, and was a member of the First Methodist Church.   • MALPEDE, FRANK WILLIAM, 81, of Spring Hill, died Friday (Jan. 11, 2002) at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. Born in New York, he came here 15 years ago from Brooklyn, N.Y. He was retired with 20 years of service as a security guard for Citibank. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, St. Jude Coucil 6383, the Disabled American Veterans and the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.   • ALTENBACH, CORINNE M., 97, of Brandon, formerly of Largo, died Friday (Jan. 11, 2002) at Tandem Health Care of Brandon. Born in Lima, Ohio, she came to the Brandon area in 1987 from Largo. She was a homemaker and a member of Providence Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Rosemary Harrison, Brandon, and Helen Jernigan, Toledo, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.   • BROWN, LAURA THERESE, 82, of Tampa, died Friday (Jan. 11, 2002) at Tampa General Hospital. Born in Baltimore, she came to the Tampa area in 1953. She was a metallurgical engineer for Westinghouse and was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She was a member of the Ladies Guild, and served as president of Christ the King School. She was also a member of the Jesuit High School mother's club. Survivors include two sons, Raymond N. Brown III, Huntington, N.Y., and Michael L. Brown, Mulberry; a daughter, Laura H.   • DRAUGHON, RALPH, 87, of Plant City, died Saturday (Jan. 12, 2002). He was a Plant City native and lifelong resident. He was an aerospace artist at Kennedy Space Center and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Plant City. He was a firefighter with the Plant City Fire Department. He was also a World War II Army veteran. Survivors include nephew, Stephen Draughon, St. Petersburg; a brother-in-law, Al Berry, Plant City; sisters-in-law Eunice Draughon and Betty B.   • HARRIS, JEFFREY ALLEN, 39, of Valrico, formerly of Largo, died Friday (Jan. 11, 2002) at home. Born in Lima, Ohio, he came to Valrico in May from Largo. He was a custom mobility technician. He played softball in a competitive league in Largo. Survivors include his wife, Lisa Y.; a daughter, Rhianon Harris, Greenville, Ohio; two stepsons, Roy Rafield, Valrico, and Daniel Rafield, Seffner; a stepdaughter, Brandi Rafield, Seffner; his parents, Carroll and Susan Harris, Cairo, Ohio; and a sister, Julie Hall, Elida, Ohio.   • LAUDERBACK, WILLIAM H., 86, of Tampa, died Friday (Jan. 11, 2002). Born in Portsmouth, Ohio, he came to Tampa 20 years ago from Milwaukee. He was a World War II veteran.   • SCHWARTZ, JOSEPH ANTHONY, 88, of Seffner, died Friday (Jan. 11, 2002) at Brandon Regional Hospital. Born in New York, he came to the Tampa Bay area in 1970 from North Merrick, Long Island, N.Y. He was a claims adjuster and a member of St. Francis of Asissi Catholic Church. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a Eucharistic minister, a member of the Friendship club and the VFW. He was an entertainer for several nursing homes. He also volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the food pantry at Nativity Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Thelma T.; two daughters, Diana G. Carter, Port Richey, and Susan J. Born in Duluth, Minn., he came here 24 years ago from Chicago. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, an Army veteran of World War II, and Catholic. Survivors include two sons, Dennis, Anchorage, Alaska, and Gerald, Humble, Texas; two brothers, Leo, St. Petersburg, and Ozzie, St. Paul, Minn.; three sisters, Evelyn, Los Angeles, Margaret Younk, Minneapolis, and Agnes Callahan, San Diego; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.     • DOLAN, EDWIN, 76, of Clearwater, died Friday (Jan. 11, 2002) at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. He came here in 1976 from his native White Plains, N.Y., where he retired from the Police Department with the rank of lieutenant. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served as an aerial gunner in the South Pacific stationed aboard the USS Hornet. He was Catholic and a charter member of the Police Emerald Society of Westchester County, N.Y., and the New York State Federation of Police. Survivors include a son, Michael, Mahopac, N.Y.; three daughters, Deborah Nevins, Westport, Conn., Janice Hilbrink, White Plains, and Barbara Hannigan, Rye Brook, N.Y.; two sisters, Marion Thomas, Largo, and Patricia Smith, Spring Hill; a brother, Robert, Saratoga, N.Y. and nine grandchildren.     • DVORAVIC, HELEN, 84, of Clearwater, died Saturday (Jan. 12, 2002) at Mease Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor. She was born in Turtle Creek, Pa., and came here in 1976 from Pittsburgh, where she co-owned and operated a large grocery store. She also worked as a waiter. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Largo. Survivors include two sons, Frank Dvoravic, Jacksonville, and Joseph Dvorak, Chicago; two sisters, Ann Gray, Pinehurst, N.C., and Babe Kent, Turtle Creek; and four grandchildren.     • ISETT, TWILA GILKEY, 98, of Inverness, formerly of Clearwater, died Wednesday (Jan. 9, 2002) at a nursing home in Inverness. She was born in Columbus Junction, Iowa, came to Clearwater in 1970 and moved in 1993 to Inverness. She was Cornell College's first fine arts graduate in 1923. She was a nurse; an artist; and an author of family history stories, poems and short stories. She owned and operated a nursing home and an art studio in Iowa. She was Methodist. Survivors include a son, Lynn Gilkey, Inverness; a stepson, William Gilkey, Clearwater; two stepdaughters, Marva Hill, Iowa, and Merna Martin, Clearwater; two grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.     • LANGENDORFF, CAROL, 68, of Clearwater, died Saturday (Jan. 12, 2002) at Mease Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor. She was born in Appleton, Wis., and came here in 1988 from Arlington, Va. She was a registered nurse and worked at St. Luke's Hospital, Chicago. She was Presbyterian and a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Herbert; a son, Peter, Gaithersburg, Md.; two brothers, James McGee, Niceville, and Robert McGee, Cary, N.C.; and three granddaughters, Jessica, Kristen and Melissa. He worked in sales and marketing in the health industry and was an Air Force veteran. Survivors include a son, Robert Jr., Pennsburg, Pa.; two daughters, Maria Pepe, Ocean City, Md., and Monica Pepe, Warrington, Pa.; two brothers, Raymond, Chadds Ford, Pa., and Mark, Hollywood, Fla.; two sisters, Ann Tunolo, West Chester, Pa., and Carol Manserra, Ocala; his companion, Nancy Stasiak, Clearwater; and six grandchildren.     • SUTTON, RICHARD L., 79, of Clearwater, died Thursday (Jan. 10, 2002) at Mease Dunedin Hospital. He was born in Xenia, Ohio, and came here in 1957 from Ohio. He was the retired owner and operator of several coin laundries, including Wash Mart. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Roseada; four daughters, Sharon L. Sutton, Safety Harbor, Julie M. Amlin, Dunedin, Cindy D. Nelson, Suches, Ga., and Kathy L. Sutton, Gainesville; two sons, Richard "Mike," Dunedin, and Jon M., Clearwater; and five grandchildren.     • TEAL, RICHARD LEANDRI "RICKY," 18, of Clearwater, died Friday (Jan. 11, 2002) as the result of an automobile accident in Clearwater. He was a Clearwater native. He was a senior at Clearwater High School, where he was a member of the ROTC, the wrestling team, the Key Club, KEG and was the pitcher on the school's varsity baseball team. He was an avid hunter. He was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Clearwater, where he was an altar server. Survivors include his parents, Renee and Rick, a brother, Reed, a sister Michelle Teal, and his maternal grandmother, Frances Leandri, all of Clearwater, and his paternal grandparents, Erna and Ralph Teal, Sautee-Nacoochee, Ga.     • BOYD, ALFRED J., 73, of Largo, died Friday (Jan. 11, 2002) at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. He was born in Safety Harbor, and returned to this area in 1980 from Tokyo, Japan, where he retired as director of Rockwell Int. after nine years. He was retired from the Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of The Retired Officer's Association. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Kikuko; a sister, Joanne Seckler, Kennebunkport, Maine; and a nephew, John Poole, Maryland. National Cremation Society, Largo.
    • BROWN, MARILYN D., 54, of Largo, died Friday (Jan. 11, 2002) at home. She was born in Springfield, Ohio, and came here in 1983 from Hartford, Conn. She was a homemaker and Catholic. Survivors include two daughters, Melissa Drury-Fraiture, Trumansburg, N.Y., and Meredith Drury-Murphy, Pawleys Island, S.C.; her mother, Ruth Irving, Largo; a brother, Thomas Irving, Seminole; and three grandchildren.     • CONROY, MICHAEL, 66, of Largo, died Friday (Jan. 11, 2002) at the VA Medical Center at Bay Pines. He came here in 1999 from his native Chicago. He was a retired lather and carpenter. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Largo, and Local 74 L of Chicago District Council of Carpenters. He was an avid fisherman.     • HINES, EDNA, 100, of Largo, died Saturday (Jan. 12, 2002) at home under the care of Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. She came here in 1962 from her native Baltimore, where she worked as a sales clerk for Hecht Clothing. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Largo. Survivors include two granddaughters, Shari Abernathy, Largo, and Barbara Glanzmann, Philadelphia; two nieces, Margaret Ochs and Ethel Thacher, both of Baltimore; and two great-grandchildren.     • RICKER, HETTY A., 78, of Largo, died Wednesday (Jan. 9, 2002) at Largo Medical Center. She came here in 1972 from her native Milwaukee. She retired from the Army with the rank of lieutenant colonel. She graduated from Marquette University, Milwaukee.   • DAUGHERTY, RICHARD WILSON, SR., 76, a visitor to Bay Pines, died Thursday (Jan. 10, 2002) at the VA Medical Center at Bay Pines. He was born in Covington, Ky., moved to Cortez from Wheeling, W.Va, and recently came to Bay Pines. He was a nationally recognized thoroughbred jockey during the late 1940s and early 1950s. He sustained a career ending injury but remained active in racing as a trainer and starter. He retired from the West Virginia State Road Commission. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was an active member of the VFW and DAV in Cortez. He was also a member of the National Horsemen Benevolent Association. He was Pentecostal. Survivors include two sons, Richard W.     • CONERY, PHILIP F., of Gulfport, died Saturday (Jan. 12, 2002) at Palms of Pasadena Hospital. He came here in 1984 from his native Iron Mountain, Mich. He was a Navy veteran of World War II assigned to PT boats in the Pacific Theater. After his discharge he worked for the Milwaukee Railroad where he retired as a conductor after 28 years. Locally, he was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and was employed at Kash 'n Karry and Publix as a bagger. She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church and was a volunteer and member of All Childrens Hopital Guild. She was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, the Florida Orchestra Guild, Cross of Lorraine Society of Pinellas County, Boys and Girls Clubs of the Suncoast Guild and the Stuart Society of the Museum of Fine Arts. She was inducted into the Senior Hall of Fame in 2000 where she received a key to the city of St. Petersburg. She served as a princess in the Queen's Court of the American Heart Society.     • HAMILTON, THOMAS PARKER III, 58, of Seminole, died Thursday (Jan. 10, 2002) at home under hospice care. Born in Atlanta, he came here in 1979 from Watertown, N.Y., and attended St. Lawrence University in New York. He was an Army Reserve veteran of six years and a bank officer. He joined Sun Bank in 1979, was vice president of Southeast Bank-First Union Bank in Largo from 1981 to 1997 and was senior vice president of First National Bank of Florida. He was a member of the West Central Florida Council of Boy Scouts of America and served as the board treasurer from 1987 to 1994 and was assistant treasurer in 1997. He was the founder and chairman of the Boy Scout Golf Tournament, established in the 1980s. He was a member of the Lone Committee of the Tampa Bay Black Business Investment Corp., the Clearwater Neighborhood Housing Services business development committee and was treasurer of the Florida Board of Literacy Volunteers of America. He was a member of Oakhurst United Methodist Church, the Largo and Seminole chambers of commerce and the Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris fellow. He was an avid golfer and member of Seminole Lake County Club and the Bayou Club. He also was a volunteer tutor at Mildred Helms Elementary School. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Nancy; two daughters, Holly Hamilton Boldrin, Baltimore, and Kimberly Hamilton, Atlanta; a brother, Lawrence, Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; a sister, Virginia Idyll, Toronto; and two nieces.
