Community Living: Instead of lien, try payment plan
Question: One of our board members fell ill and required hospitalization and physical therapy. Besides that he lost his job. He has been in arrears with his monthly assessments since the onset of his illness. We realize that we have the legal authority to file a lien against his unit, but we feel sorry for this person and don't want to add more stress by filing a lien. Please give us your thoughts.

The Community Service Foundation offers "Family Budgeting," free three-part money management classes for people who want to buy a house but are having trouble assembling a down payment. Classes show how to develop a budget and how to save, and provide a basic understanding of credit reports. Sequential classes held 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Feb. 20, continuing March 6 and 20 at Foundation Village Neighborhood Family Center, 918 Woodlawn St., Clearwater.
