CARNIVAL RAISES BID AGAIN: Carnival Corp. has made a third takeover bid for rival P&O Princess PLC. Carnival's latest offer was worth about $5.1-billion, or 3 percent more than the bid Princess turned down Monday. P&O Princess plans to merge with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. Carnival, eager to spoil a marriage between Princess and Royal Caribbean, said its revised offer is conditional only upon the clearance of regulatory hurdles. Carnival also said it has restructured its latest bid to avoid triggering any financial penalties, or "poison pills," that might arise from a change in control of a joint venture Princess and Royal Caribbean have in southern Europe.
