LECANTO -- In a meeting last spring, Lecanto Primary School teachers and administrators met to discuss improving the math and science curriculum. One thing they discussed was bringing the science fair back to the school.

WTI OFFERS HEALTH CARE COURSE: In association with Withlacoochee Technical Institute, Experience Works/Green Thumb Inc. is offering an 11-week Patient Care Assistant, Certified Nurse's Assistant and Home Health Aide course. This course will be held at WTI in Inverness five days a week, six hours a day, starting in March. To qualify, participants must be 55 or older and meet income requirements. The course includes free tuition, books and uniforms. High school diploma not required. For information, call Experience Works/Green Thumb Inc. at 726-5477.

Attention high school seniors: Scholarship opportunities
SECO ANNOUNCES 2002 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Up to 12 high school seniors from Sumter Electric Cooperative's service territory (Marion, Citrus, Lake, Sumter, Pasco, Levy and Hernando counties) will receive scholarships from the co-op this year. Students chosen to receive a SECO Youth Scholarship this year will receive $1,000. To qualify, graduates must reside in a home served by SECO and be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical school by the end of 2002. Selection will be based on past and present achievements in school and the community, financial need, and scholastic record. Application forms are available at all SECO offices and at guidance offices of area high schools. Deadline is March 29.
