GIs exchange gunfire with an elusive enemy
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan -- U.S. forces scrambled helicopter gunships and exchanged fire Wednesday night with attackers who shot at the American air base in southern Afghanistan. There were no U.S. casualties in the attack, but at another base a U.S. soldier was crushed to death by falling equipment.
