Suicide bomber kills seven
UM-EL-FAHM, Israel -- A bearded young Palestinian man, chewing gum and wearing a jacket, boarded a bus full of Arabs and Jews in northern Israel Wednesday morning, paid his $2.60 fare and then triggered a thunderous explosion, killing seven people and himself and injuring 27.

'Adaptable' al-Qaida rebuilding
BAGRAM, Afghanistan -- The Operation Anaconda commander warned on Wednesday that al-Qaida fighters are an "adaptable enemy" already drawing on a fresh flow of cash to rebuild forces in eastern Paktia province. Just 40 miles to the east, U.S. and Afghan troops came under fire, and one American was wounded.

King hopes to bring peace home
ROME -- The striking thing about the home for former Afghan King Mohammed Zahir Shah, when approaching it through the leafy Roman neighborhood of Olgiata, is that it is the only property in the area completely devoid of trees.

Policewoman's remains found at WTC
The remains of the only city policewoman killed in the World Trade Center attack were found Wednesday, along with those of two court officers and two Port Authority police officers.
