NEW YORK -- When the nation's top chefs gathered here last week for a feast to honor the year's best in their profession, they cranked up the star power, pulled on their Pradas and cooked with a new spice: spice.

Food awards go to New York's finest
NEW YORK -- After a tragic year in which chefs and cooks mourned colleagues lost in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and then set up emergency kitchens and benefit dinners to aid the recovery, the city's restaurateurs and chefs took center stage on May 6 at the annual James Beard Awards for their cooking and hospitality.

And, no, it doesn't taste like chicken
