BYRON, ANTHONY MICHAEL "JACK," 89, of Crystal River, died Thursday (June 6, 2002) at LifeCare Center of Citrus County in Lecanto. Born in New York City, he came here in 1996 from Queens, N.Y. He was a truck driver for Railroad Express of Manhattan with 30 years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of New York VFW. He was a former member of Knights of Columbus and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He was an avid pool player and fisherman. Survivors include two sons, Michael, Crystal River, and Thomas, Queens; a daughter, Diane Logush, Sussex, N.J.; a brother, David, Queens; several nieces and nephews; and seven grandchildren. CROWE, NORMA M., 71, of Crystal River, died Wednesday (June 5, 2002) at home. Born in Mountain City, Tenn., she came here in 1989 from St. Petersburg. She was a waiter and homemaker. DESCH, GERALD D. SR., 86, of Dunnellon, died Tuesday (June 4, 2002) at home. Born in Altoona, Pa., he came here 30 years ago from Pinellas Park. He was the owner/operator of Tom & Jerry's 66 Service Station in Inglis. He was an Army veteran and a member of Rock Church of Inglis. He was a 32nd degree Mason at Mason Lodge 136 and a member of Egypt Shrine Temple, Tampa. JERRELL, MARY F., 86, of Inverness, died Wednesday (June 5, 2002) in Inverness. Born in Parker, Ind., she came here in 1980 from Indianapolis. She was a registered nurse and Methodist. She was a past noble grand matron of Rebecca Lodge, Eastern Star, where she was a member for 59 years, and was a member of Point O'Woods Golf and Social Clubs. Survivors include two brothers, Ray A. REPP, DONALD A., 82, of Inverness, died Wednesday (June 5, 2002) at Mariner Health Care in Inverness. Born in Port Chester, N.Y., he moved here in 1993 from Casselberry. He retired from Ford Motor Co. and was a member of UAW Union 1250, both in Cleveland. He was an Army veteran of World War II and recipient of the Purple Heart. He enjoyed photography and was a member of Unity Church of Citrus County. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Nedra N.; two daughters, Nancy L. Kaufman, Charlotte, N.C., and Cindy J. SNYDER, WALTER A. "BUCK," 70, died Wednesday (June 5, 2002) in Crystal River. Born in Jerseyville, Ill., he came here 40 years ago from Wood River, Ill. He was a retired building contractor and a detective for the Crystal River Police Department. He also worked at commercial fishing. He was an Army veteran achieving the rank of master sergeant and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was Protestant. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Ruth; a son, Bobby, and a daughter, Elizabeth Trumble, both of Crystal River; a half-brother, Larry Synder, and a half-sister, Kay Kickman, both of Illinois; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. WHELAN, JOHN MICHAEL, 67, of Floral City, formerly of New Port Richey, died Wednesday (June 5, 2002) at home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Winner, S.D., he came here five years ago from New Port Richey. He was a retired truck driver and Marine Corps veteran. COHAN, JULES, 75, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday (June 4, 2002) in Brooksville. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he came here in 1989 from Nanuet, N.Y. He was a pet supplies distributor and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Temple Beth David Jewish Center of Spring Hill. SARGENT, RICHARD J., 79, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday (June 4, 2002) at home. Born in Pittsburgh, he came here in 1999 from Cincinnati. He was a retired salesman for General Mills with 38 years of service. He was an Army Air Corps veteran. He played piano for the Cecil Young Orchestra in Cincinnati. He was a member of the Cincinnati Shriners Lodge, Masonic 623 F&AM, Washington, Pa., and St. Martin's Episcopal Church, Hudson. Survivors include his wife, Betty; a son, Richard Sargent Jr., Cincinnati; and two daughters, Beth Booth, Cincinnati, and Sally Hedrick, Chicago; and seven grandchildren. SHELDON, ANNE, 80, of Brooksville, died Wednesday (June 5, 2002) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Brooksville. Born in Alberta, Canada, she came here 18 years ago from Cleveland. She worked for B.F. Goodrich in Cleveland for 20 years. She attended St. John's Episcopal Church. ANTINORI, MICHAEL PAUL, 30, of Tampa, died Tuesday (June 4, 2002) in an airplane accident. He graduated from Plant High School, completed four years at Florida State University, and was a member of the Sigma Epsilon fraternity. He was a member of Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club and Harbor Island Athletic Club. After college, he joined his family at American Bedding Industries, where he was a general manager for one of the divisions. Survivors include his parents, Pat and Tino; two brothers, Tony and Steve; two nieces, Jayme and Christa; two nephews, Chad and Nathan; and two cousins, Alan and Christopher, all of Tampa. BRIDGMON, ROY A., 78, of Dover, died Tuesday (June 4, 2002) at Brandon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Nauvoo, Ala., he moved to the Tampa area 52 years ago from Alabama. He was a World War II veteran, the owner and operator of an automotive paint and body shop, and was Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Alice; three daughters, Wilma L. He was a Marine Corps veteran. He achieved the rank of gunnery sergeant and served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. - COMPORT, JOHN B., 93, of Clearwater, formerly of Belleair Beach, died Monday (June 3, 2002) at Tandem Health Care at Safety Harbor. He was born in the former town of Morrisdale Mines, Pa., came to Belleair Beach in 1971. In the early 1980s he moved to Clearwater. He retired as a manager after 30 years with Monumental Life Insurance. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. He was born in East Liverpool, Ohio, and came here in 1975 from Yorktown Heights, N.Y. He retired as a supervisor for New York State Manufacturing and was a Boy Scout leader for 13 years. She came here in 1986 from her native Rochester, N.Y., where she worked 20 years as an optical production specialist for Bausch & Lomb. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliaries of Old Fort Harrison VFW Post 2473 of Clearwater and American Legion Post 275, Dunedin. - RYAN, DEBORAH ROSEWATER, 33, of Carlsbad, Calif., formerly of Clearwater, was killed Tuesday (June 4, 2002) after pushing two children out of the way of an out-of-control sport-utility vehicle near her home in Carlsbad. She was born in Clearwater and attended South Ward Elementary and Kennedy Middle and Clearwater High Schools, and graduated in 1991 from University of Miami. She moved to California in 1992 and taught at Roosevelt Middle School, Vista, Calif., until 1997. She attended Religious School at Temple B'nai Israel, Clearwater. She was a marathon runner; and while living in California, she competed in four major long-distance races. She qualified recently for the Boston Marathon with a time of 3 hours 36 minutes in the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in San Diego. Survivors include her husband, Paul, and two daughters, Meghan and Chloe, all of Carlsbad; her parents, Maureen and Dr. Stan Rosewater, Clearwater; a brother, Jim Rosewater, Miami; and a sister, Shari Bowlin, Palm Harbor. - SHRODES, LORINE M., 94, of Port Richey, formerly of Clearwater, died Tuesday (June 4, 2002) at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. She was born in St. Louis, came to Clearwater in 1963 from Martins Ferry, Ohio, and in 1995 moved to Port Richey. She was a junior high school teacher and retired from both the Martins Ferry and the Pinellas public school systems. She was Protestant. Survivors include her daughter, Alice J. He retired after 10 years as a manager with Kane's Furniture, Sarasota, and was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, Clearwater.
