Budget cuts doom home for juvenile offenders
The small Hillsborough program is one of several similar facilities closing around the state.
Charity 10%, firefighters union 90%
In 1996, the Tampa firefighters union donated $20,189 to Camp Hopetake, a place for burned children. The union's reserve fund was $172,305. By 2001, the reserve fund doubled to $363,442. Donations to Camp Hopetake were $22,690.
