Laundry list of home problems is corrected
On Jan. 19, 2001, I entered into a contract with Image Custom Homes in New Port Richey to build a home in Tarpon Springs. At the time of settlement, I had a list of items that needed correcting, which Douglas Naumann, the president, agreed to complete. For several months after settlement, I called the customer service number and was repeatedly told that these items would be taken care of. Eight months later, I still was waiting. Some of these items were in warranty, and some were punch list. On July 19 and 24, 2001, I sent letters to the builder indicating the vinyl flooring in the kitchen had been improperly installed. (The builder had already corrected a complaint about the vinyl in the bathrooms.) The attached letter from the builder indicates that the vinyl would be replaced. Instead, a second layer was installed on top of the defective layer. This caused the surface to be pliant, and several holes have been punched in the material simply from walking on it in heels. There was also a noticeable indentation in the middle of the flooring where the concrete should have been leveled before installation. A coating of glue that cannot be removed was left on the surface. Instead of readjusting the doors on the pantry after the second installation, wooden shims were placed under the metal base attachments, and they are beginning to disintegrate from mopping.
