Military news
Army Pvt. Justin J. Stanton, son of Keith and Donna Stanton of Largo, graduated from basic training in Fort Jackson, S.C. He received an expert rifle badge and a special certificate of achievement for volunteering at the base chapel. He has been assigned to Fort Eustis, Va., for advanced individual training on the Black Hawk helicopter in preparation for crew chief service. He is a 1999 graduate of Clearwater High School.

Schools need more seniors as volunteers
Two loyal volunteers at Eisenhower Elementary School in Clearwater were featured in a Times profile Tuesday. George Boone and his wife, Phyllis, have put in 26,000 hours during a span of 21 years at the school, and they still show up twice a week to help out in the library or in classrooms.
