CARROLLWOOD: Not long ago it was Grady's American Grill. Then it became Tony Roma's. Soon, Mimi's Cafe will give Main Street a shot and open a 7,000-square-foot restaurant on the .6-acre site on Dale Mabry Highway south of Stall Road.

Country Club of Carrollwood to host charity tournament
Sign up now for the Soroptimist International of Tampa Charity Golf Tournament, which will be held Nov. 2 at the Country Club of Carrollwood, 13903 Clubhouse Drive. The format will be four-person scramble. Cost is $75 per player and includes greens fees and cart, barbecue dinner, goodies and prizes. Dinner for quests is $15.

Candidates' forum is Thursday in Lutz
LUTZ -- A candidates' forum for eight local races is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lutz Community Center. Sponsored by the Lutz Civic Association, the event will feature candidates running for two seats in the Florida House, three on the Hillsborough County Commission, one on the county School Board and two judgeships. Each candidate is to give a brief talk. Later, audience members will be allowed to ask questions. The community center is immediately northeast of the Lutz Branch Library, near U.S. 41 and Lutz-Lake Fern Road.

ANOTHER CRASH AT DEADLY CURVE: Kathy Walvoord awoke to a thunderous crash Wednesday shortly after 2 a.m. She saw cracks in the backyard wall outside her house on Shadybrook Drive and part of her roof lying on it. It was not until she stepped onto the patio that she saw the Volvo, upside down, a tire still spinning, its driver slumped in his seat.
