  • BEAN, VERNON H., 85, of Citrus Springs, died Tuesday (Nov. 5, 2002) at Surrey Place in Lecanto. Born in Chicago, he came here in 1985 from New Lennox, Ill. He was a retired mechanical engineer for General American Tank Storage Inc., Argo, Ill. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Dunnellon. Survivors include two sons, Donald, Woodstock, Ill., and Vernon D., Marseilles, Ill.; and three grandchildren. Fero Funeral Home, Dunnellon.
  • JORGENSEN, POUL, 80, of Floral City, died Tuesday (Nov. 5, 2002) at home.   • SHEPPARD, WANDA LOUISE, 70, of Inverness, formerly of Tampa, died Tuesday (Nov. 5, 2002) at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. Born in Balm, she came here five years ago from Bradenton, where she lived for 25 years. Previously, she had lived in Tampa for 20 years. She was a retired school bus driver for Hillsborough County with 20 years of service. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Citrus Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, W.   • ORTIZ, LAURA DIAZ, 78, of Spring Hill, died Monday (Nov. 4, 2002) at Tampa General Hospital. Born in Cayey, Puerto Rico, she came here three years ago from New Haven, Conn. She graduated from the Academia Bautista Barranquita of Puerto Rico. She was an ordained minister with the Assembly of God Church, Guilford, Conn. She was a Baptist missionary in Puerto Rico and was a theology professor at the Bible Institute, Bridgeport, Conn. She was a prison and convalescent minister in New Haven, Wildwood and Hernando County. She was a member of the Second Star of Jacob in New Haven. She was a member of the Abundant Life Church of Spring Hill. Survivors include her husband, Juan; two daughters, Ruth, Spring Hill, and Laura Ettorre, Pinellas Park; two sons, Edwin, Nashville, Tenn., and David, Spring Hill; five brothers, Narciso, Angel, Jose, Efrain and Nino, and a sister, Roselinda; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was a member of Spring Hill United Church of Christ. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Timber Pines Golf & Country Club, Democratic Club of Timber Pines, and Timber Pines Duplicate Bridge Club.   • ROSAMOND, LARRY D., 56, of Fort Myers, formerly of Brandon, died Thursday (Oct. 31, 2002). He moved to Fort Myers 30 years ago from Brandon. He was a sales representative for Unisorce Paper Company and was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for more than 45 years. He was an adult volunteer in Fort Myers for 30 years, receiving the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award. He also received the Order of the Arrow's Founders Award. Born in Kalymnos, Greece, he moved to Tarpon Springs in 1967 from Greece, then moved to Holiday in 1995. He was a retired ship crew supervisor in the Merchant Marines in Greece. He was a coffee expeditor at Louis Pappas Riverside Restaurant for 12 years and worked in the sponge industry for four years. He was a Greek Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral. He was employed by Brooks Brothers clothiers for 35 years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Port Richey. He was rescued after two days at sea when his ship, the USS Saint Lo, came under air attack in the sea battle off the island of Samar in the Philippines.     • SANDERSON, NATHANIEL SR., 77, of St. Petersburg, died Monday (Nov. 4, 2002) at St. Anthony's Hospital. He came here in the 1940s from his native Gainesville. He retired from the Coast Guard in 1964 and from the Pinellas County schools custodian department in 1987. He and his late wife, Willie Mae, owned the Friendly Inn Restaurant and Bar in St. Petersburg for more than 10 years. He was Baptist. Survivors include four daughters, Hazel Randall, Baltimore, Betty Richardson, Silver Spring, Md., Constance Bailey, St. Petersburg, and Nita Labossiere, Oakland, Calif.; a son, Nathaniel Sanderson Jr., Columbus, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.     • THOMAS, ULEATHA J., 60, of St. Petersburg, died Monday (Nov. 4, 2002) at Bayfront Medical Center. She came here in 1963 from her native Altamonte Springs. She was a licensed real estate broker and attended the University of South Florida, where she received her real estate broker's certificate. She was the owner of the former Renco Real Estate Co. and a real estate broker instructor at St. Petersburg College for 10 years. She was a member of Pinellas Point Community Baptist Church and OES. She was a citizens' band radio operator, known as Queen of Hearts. Survivors include two daughters, Castina Barnes, St. Petersburg, and Stacey Blossom, Tampa; two sons, Anthony Thomas, St. Petersburg, and Rodney Williams, Clearwater; a sister, Geneva Bartley, Altamonte Springs; three brothers, Ennis Robert and Wayne Thomas, both of Altamonte Springs, and Willie Thomas, St. Petersburg; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.     • NOWAK, MARY, 81, of Bradenton, formerly of Treasure Island, died Tuesday (Oct. 8, 2002) at home. Born in Akron, Ohio, she came here in 1957 and moved to Bradenton in 2000. She was a 1942 graduate of the University of Akron and a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Survivors include two sons, Bill, Bradenton, and Paul, Franklin, Tenn.; a sister, Betty Helmkamp, and a brother, Dr. John James Murphy, both of Akron; and four grandchildren.
