Two judges have been appointed to the 5th District Court of Appeal, which includes Hernando and Citrus counties.

Gov. Jeb Bush announced this week that Judge Vincent G. Torpy Jr. and Judge David A. Monaco would join the court that reviews cases from Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion and Sumter counties.

Torpy, 47, of Melbourne has been a judge in the 18th Judicial Circuit since 1999. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Central Florida in 1981 and attended the Florida State University College of Law.

Monaco, 59, of Ormond Beach has been a judge in the 7th Judicial Circuit since 1997. He was previously a partner at a Daytona Beach firm. He graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1965 and attended law school at the University of Florida. The men will fill vacancies left by Charles M. Harris and Warren H. Cobb, who are retiring.
