CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Kent Williams scored 19 and the Salukis overcame a second-half deficit Saturday.

Southern Illinois (7-3) trailed by five at halftime but outscored Illinois State 40-26 and shot 58 percent in the second half. Jermaine Dearman added 13 points.

Illinois State (1-9) was playing its first game since coach Tom Richardson taped the door to the Redbirds locker room shut and stripped the three captains of their titles to try and inspire a turnaround.

UP NEXT: Evansville, 7:05 p.m. Wednesday.
