NEW PORT RICHEY -- A man was killed Thursday morning when he drove a car into the back of a tour bus that was stopped at a red light on U.S. 19. The crash bottled up traffic on the busy highway for more than an hour. New Port Richey Police Officer Keith Campbell said the bus -- empty but for its driver -- was stopped at the light on U.S. 19 at Main Street at 8:55 a.m. when a 1983 Buick slammed into its back. Witnesses told police that the car did not appear to slow down before striking the bus, Campbell said. The driver's name was not released by police pending family notification. The bus driver was not injured.
