Kings snare Nets, ending run at home

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The second-best team in the West humiliated the top team in the East.

The Kings went on a 38-10 run bridging the first and second quarters and led by as many as 42 in defeating the Nets 118-82 Thursday night, preventing New Jersey from matching the longest winning streak in franchise history: 11 games.

It was the first home loss for the Nets since Nov.16, when the West's other powerhouse -- the Mavericks -- beat them by eight.

Peja Stojakovic scored 24, Mike Bibby added 23 and Chris Webber had 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Kings, who won their fourth in a row.

Lucious Harris and Jason Collins scored 11 each for the Nets, whose home winning streak was snapped at 13.

"We're here to break it," Bibby said before tipoff.

Also, the Nets activated Chris Childs before the game. The veteran guard was suspended before the start of the season for failing to stay in shape.

BLAZERS 90, SPURS 87: Scottie Pippen and Derek Anderson scored 19 each as host Portland got its 11th win in the past 13 games.

With the score tied at 80, Dale Davis hit a turnaround jumper and Anderson added a layup with 1:30 left.

San Antonio's Tim Duncan scored, and his free throw pulled the Spurs within 84-83. But Pippen and Anderson answered to put the Blazers ahead 88-83.

Duncan narrowed it to 88-85 with 7.7 seconds to go, but Tony Parker fouled Anderson, who made both free throws, and Parker's layup didn't matter.

Charges dropped in case of Hudson's home robbery

Florida prosecutors dropped a murder charge against a man indicted for a deadly home-invasion robbery at the former home of Timberwolves guard Troy Hudson.

Prosecutors dropped first-degree murder, burglary and robbery charges against Thomas Chenault III for the June30 slaying of Carrick Reid in Maitland.

HAWKS: Forward Chris Crawford (inflamed left knee) went on the injured list.

RAPTORS: Center Nate Huffman is out indefinitely with a sore right knee.

WIZARDS: Michael Jordan skipped practice as he recovers from a virus.
