Navy Airman Dontrell R. Smith, son of Carl A. Kelly of St. Petersburg, recently began a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf aboard the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman. His home port is Norfolk, Va. Smith joined the Navy in 2001.

Pvt. 2nd Class Timothy J. Simmons, son of Norman and Debbie Crabtree of St. Petersburg, graduated from Army basic training at Fort Benning, Ga., and advanced individual training at Fort Eustis, Va. He is stationed at Fort Eustis and is pursuing a career in water craft engineering.

Navy Hospitalman Apprentice Adam J. Curp, son of Rhonda L. and Greg S. Curp of St. Petersburg, recently graduated from the Basic Hospital Corps School at Naval Hospital Corps School, Great Lakes, Ill. He is a 2002 graduate of Lakewood High School.

Navy Fireman Marc J. Robins, son of Jan Robins of St. Petersburg, has departed on a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and the Arabian Gulf aboard the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman. His home port is Norfolk, Va. Robins joined the Navy in 2001 and is a 2000 graduate of Northeast High School.

Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Vincent B. Smith, son of Carolyn C. and William J. Smith of St. Petersburg, was promoted to his current rank while serving with the Second Assault Amphibian Battalion, Second Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, N.C. He is a 2000 graduate of Northeast High School.
