Duncan leads way to OT win

SAN ANTONIO -- Tim Duncan had eight of his season-high 38 points in overtime and finished with 16 rebounds and nine assists to lead the Spurs to a 108-100 victory Tuesday night over the Phoenix Suns.

San Antonio also got 15 points from Tony Parker and 11 apiece from David Robinson and Steve Smith while winning for the fifth time in six games.

Stephon Marbury had 29 points, Amare Stoudemire 24 and Shawn Marion 23 for Phoenix, which lost for the first time in three games.

The Spurs never trailed after the third quarter, but Marbury's 3-point basket with three seconds left in the fourth forced overtime with the teams tied at 94.

RAPTORS 84, WIZARDS 75: Rafer Alston and Damone Brown -- players just signed from a developmental league -- helped injury-ravaged Toronto surprise Washington. Alston, from the Mobile Revelers of the National Basketball Development League had 13 points and 11 assists. Brown, signed Tuesday from the NBDL's North Charleston Lowgators, added 13 points. The Wizards played without Jerry Stackhouse, who will be out at least a week with a pulled groin.

HEAT 88, PISTONS 85: Caron Butler scored 22 as host Miami snapped a six-game losing streak. The Heat won despite missing 6 of 8 free throws in the final 1:05. Detroit's Jon Barry missed a 30-footer at the buzzer that would have forced overtime.

KNICKS 98, BULLS 86: Allan Houston had 26 points, and Kurt Thomas added 24 and 13 rebounds as New York handed Chicago its 17th straight road loss.

BUCKS 97, HAWKS 88: Sam Cassell and Ray Allen each scored 21 for host Milwaukee as George Karl beat his longtime assistant, Terry Stotts, Atlanta's interim coach.

HORNETS: Guard Baron Davis (back) expects to play tonight against the Lakers.

MAVERICKS: Italian League star Antoine Rigaudeau is scheduled to be in Dallas today to finalize a multiyear contract and take a physical.

WOLVES: Point guard Troy Hudson will miss tonight's game against the Clippers with a sprained left ankle.

EXPANSION: Charlotte owner Robert Johnson completed a deal with the city that clears the way for construction of a $260-million downtown arena.

ERVING DIVORCE: Hall of Famer Julius Erving, a vice president with the Magic, and his wife of nearly 29 years are divorcing. Turquoise Erving filed a petition for divorce in Seminole County, citing irreconcilable differences.
