Search continues for body of boy who fell out of boat
HERNANDO -- Authorities on Tuesday continued to search Hernando Lake for the body of Tommy Ray Jr., the 14-year-old Tampa boy who fell out of a boat Sunday afternoon. Ray was turning the boat sharply and riding with his Hernando friend Travis Estes, 14. Estes, who was not injured, helped police verify the location of the accident Tuesday, said Citrus County sheriff's spokeswoman Gail Tierney. Officials are using sonar equipment, capable of detecting irregularities on the lake's bottom, to help locate the body.
LECANTO -- An Inverness man was arrested early Monday morning, accused of shooting and killing a female hog in Lecanto. Charles Allan Roddenberry, 24, of 6789 E Falcon Rest Lane, told Citrus County sheriff's deputies he bought a pig from an acquaintance, Simon Rogers, 68, of Lecanto, for $20, an arrest affidavit said. Rogers told officials he did not sell the hog for $20. Rogers said he has not spoken to Roddenberry in about six months and did not authorize him to take or destroy any of his hogs. Roddenberry was charged with grand theft of livestock, using a firearm while intoxicated and trespassing. He remained at the Citrus County jail Tuesday in lieu of $6,000 bail.
