Beaches clean enough for a dip againCLEARWATER -- Health department officials have opened beaches along the Courtney Campbell Parkway and R.E. Olds Park after tests showed the water quality to be acceptable for swimming. The Pinellas County Health Department closed the beaches on Dec. 31 after high levels of bacteria were found. Heavy rains, and a wastewater overflow near the Courtney Campbell, may have contributed to the high levels. The closings were lifted Wednesday after tests showed the levels to be moderate or good. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
