Florida Orchestra musicians and concertgoers will get acquainted with conductor Susan Haig over the next week. Haig will be on the podium for four concerts ranging from tonight's Blue Jeans Classics concert at St. Petersburg's Coliseum to Sunday's matinee concert at the Center for the Performing Arts at River Ridge in New Port Richey to a pair of morning coffee concerts, Friday at Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center and Jan. 23 at Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg.
Haig, who is a candidate for the resident conductor post formerly held by Thomas Wilkins, stepped down as music director of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra in November. Haig, the first woman to head the orchestra in Sioux Falls, and the board cited philosophical differences in programming, spending and expanding as reasons for the split.
Tonight, Haig leads the orchestra in works of Dvorak, Offenbach, Johann Strauss Jr. and other light classics at 7:30 at the Coliseum. Concertgoers may bring picnic dinners, but all beverages must be purchased through the hall. General admission seating: $18. (813) 286-2403 or toll-free 1-800-662-7286.

The Osiris Piano Trio has this beguiling message on its Web site: "It was by his gentleness alone that Osiris subjected country after country, winning and disarming their inhabitants by songs and the playing of instruments." The Dutch piano trio, presumably named after the ancient Egyptian god, begins an American tour this weekend.
Osiris -- from left, Ellen Corver, piano; Larissa Groeneveld, cello; Peter Brunt, violin -- has been together since 1988 and recorded a number of CDs on the Channel Classics label, including works by Mendelssohn, Frank Martin, Beethoven, Dvorak and Ives. The group plays at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center. Tickets: $12, $14. (727) 942-5605.
Touring show of 'Cabaret'

Director-choreographer Bob Fosse may be more popular today than when he was alive. Chicago, which did not have an especially successful run when Fosse first staged it, was revived on Broadway with boffo results, and now it's a hit movie. Cabaret also had an acclaimed revival, directed by Sam Mendes, which was much edgier than the Fosse movie starring Liza Minnelli.
Michael Brown, above, plays the Emcee in a Cabaret tour, staged by BT McNicholl to replicate as much as possible of the Mendes version. There are three performances Friday and Saturday at Ruth Eckerd Hall. Tickets: $32-$40. (727) 791-7400 or www.rutheckerdhall.com.
