CLEARWATER -- Health department officials have opened beaches along at the Courtney Campbell Parkway and R.E. Olds Park after tests showed the water quality to be acceptable for swimming.
The Pinellas County Health Department closed the beaches Dec. 31 after high levels of bacteria were found. Heavy rains and a wastewater overflow near the Courtney Campbell might have contributed to the high levels. The closings were lifted Wednesday after tests showed the levels to be moderate or good.
