Citrus: This weekBy Times staff© St. Petersburg Times published January 17, 2003 CHORUS IN THE HILLS: The Chorus of Beverly Hills will begin rehearsals for its spring concert at the Beverly Hills Recreation Association at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28. Singers for all four voice parts are encouraged to join the group, directed by Lorraine Wilmoth and with Barbara Hill as accompanist. An exciting program featuring the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein is planned. LECANTO HIGH STARS: A variety show A Night With the Stars of Lecanto High School, will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Curtis Peterson Auditorium. Acts include Lecanto High students and faculty performing in song and dance routines. Proceeds support Project Graduation. Tickets at the door are $3 for students, $4 for adults. Call 746-9778. HOP ON OVER: The Redfish Revue Theatre, a film series presented at Crystal River State Buffer Preserve, will present Cane Toads, An Unnatural History, at 7 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free. Bring a bag of popcorn and refreshments to experience a full screen DVD-quality surround sound experience. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Come early and check out the Visitors Center to view the dioramas of native Florida animals. The Redfish Revue Theatre is at the Preserve's Visitor Center at 3266 N Sailboat Ave., Crystal River. Follow the Preserve signs north of the Crystal River Mall on U.S. 19 and west on State Park Street (just past the Days Inn), all the way to the end. Call 563-0450. PLAYHOUSE 19: All Night Strut, a concert featuring the hit songs of the 1930s and 40s, continues this weekend at Playhouse 19, 865 U.S. 19 S, Crystal River. The concert runs Thursday through Sunday through Feb. 2. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15. Call the box office at 563-1333. SPIRIT OF DANCING: The Spirit of Citrus Ballroom Dancers holds dances on Saturdays at the Kellner Auditorium, Jewish Center in Beverly Hills Civic Circle. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. with dancing until 10 p.m. Admission is $6 per person. A wide variety of ballroom dance music is played by disc jockeys. Mini dance workshops are held on Wednesday evenings. LOOK AHEADTRACTOR SHOW: The fourth annual Antique Tractor Show and Pull will be Jan. 24 to 26 at the Citrus County Fairgrounds. Advance three-day tickets are $23; two-day tickets are $15 and a one day ticket is $8 for adults. Childrens' (age 6 to 11) tickets are $10, $7 and $4. Tickets are available at all Chamber of Commerce offices, Global Radio, 2621 SR 44 W, Inverness or 719 NE U.S. 19 Crystal Riverl or at the fair office at the fairgrounds, U.S. 41 S, Inverness. Call 726-2993. COMEDY: I Bet Your Life, a comedy, will be a dinner theater performance on Jan. 24 in the Hampton Room of Andre's Restaurant, 509 E Hartford St., Citrus Hills. The play will run for one weekend only. Seating begins at 4:30 p.m., dinner is at 5 and the show starts at 6:30. Cost is $28, which includes tax and tip. Call Andre's at 746-6855. COMIC RELIEF: The mystery comedy Knock 'em Dead will be a dinner theater performance Jan. 29 at Riverside Buffet House, 4152 U.S. 19 S in Homosassa Springs. Tickets are $30 in advance and $32 at the door, available at all Citrus County Chamber of Commerce offices, Playhouse 19 and Citrus County Art League box offices and all Citrus County Suntrust banks. Proceeds benefit Citrus 20/20 Inc., which is co-sponsoring the play with the Art League, Gulf Islands Civic Theatre and Playhouse 19. SYMPHONY: The Central Florida Symphony will present "Symphonic Rhapsody," a concert featuring works by Liszt, Ravel, Gershwin and Rachmaninoff, at 2 p.m Feb. 2 at Curtis Peterson Auditorium at Lecanto High. Featured performer is pianist Lance Coburn. Tickets are $17 for reserved seats, $15 for general admission and $10 for students. The program will also be presented at 8 p.m. Jan. 25 and 3 p.m. Jan. 26 the Fine Arts Auditorium at Central Florida Community College in Ocala. Call (352) 351-1606. ART LEAGUE PLAY: This Must Be The Place, a comedy by Monk Ferris, opens for a three-weekend run Feb. 14 at the Citrus County Art League, 2644 N Annapolis Ave., Citrus Hills. The play involves a famous artist who sees his romantic evening turned into a three-ring circus. Bill Halavan directs. Advance tickets are $10 and $12 at the door, on sale now at the Cultural Center during regular box office hours, 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Call Lee at 746-0648 for reservations. MUSIC: Citrus Harmony Chorus of Sweet Adelines presents "Anything Goes," a barbershop-style musical revue, at 2 p.m. Feb. 15 at Citrus County Fairgrounds Auditorium on U.S. 41 S, Inverness. Guest performances by Big Sun Men's Barbershop Chorus and the Choraliers. Tickets are $10 at the door or by reservation. Call 726-8666. BIG BAND: The 42nd Street Band, along with celebrity impersonators Rodi Alexander singing the hits of Barbra Streisand and Gary Edwards singing the songs of Bobby Darrin, will perform at 2 and 7 p.m. Feb. 22 at Curtis Peterson Auditorium at Lecanto High. Tickets are $13 in advance at Bank Of America, Homosassa Springs Bank, Regions Bank, Sun Trust Bank and all chamber of commerce offices in Citrus. Tickets at the door are $15. ROCK CRUSHER SHOW: Country music legends the Oak Ridge Boys will perform two shows Feb. 22 at Rock Crusher Canyon Amphitheater, 275 S Rock Crusher Road, Crystal River.
