BUCKING THE SYSTEM: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, a dramatic comedy, continues Thursdays and weekends through Jan. 26 at Stage West Community Playhouse, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. Shows are at 8 p.m., except Sundays, when curtain time is 2 p.m. Admission is $14 adults; $12 ages 17 and younger. The box office is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and an hour before each performance. Call 683-5113.

COME BLOW YOUR HORN: The Hernando Jazz Society will have a concert featuring the sound of trumpets from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the SNPJ Hall on County Line Road in Spring Hill. Admission for nonmembers of the society is $5. For information, call 666-4842.

BREEDING SHOWS: The Clearwater Kennel Club will have its winter all-breed shows Saturday and Sunday at Florida Classic Park on Lockhart Road, off Cortez Boulevard, east of Brooksville. More than 1,200 dogs are entered each day. Judging begins at 9 a.m. each day. Refreshments available. Parking is $4 per vehicle. Call 596-5607.

ARTIST OF THE MONTH: The Spring Hill Art League's Artist of the Month for January is Rima Childiaeva, a Spring Hill winter resident. Her paintings, mainly landscapes and florals in oil, are on display through the end of the month in the lobby at the Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative, 10005 Cortez Blvd., Spring Hill. COMIC RELIEF: The mystery comedy Knock 'em Dead will be performed in a dinner-theater setting Jan. 29 at the Riverside Buffet House, 4152 U.S. 19 S, Homosassa Springs. Tickets are $30 in advance and $32 at the door and are available at all Citrus County Chamber of Commerce offices, Playhouse 19 and Citrus County Art League box offices and at all Citrus County SunTrust Bank locations. Proceeds benefit Citrus 20/20 Inc., which is co-sponsoring the play with the Citrus County Art League, Gulf Islands Civic Theatre and Playhouse 19.

GYPSY: The musical Gypsy continues weekends through Feb. 2 at Richey Suncoast Theatre, 6237 Grand Blvd., New Port Richey. Shows are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2:30 p.m. Sundays. SYMPHONY OF SOUNDS: The Florida Orchestra will perform "Nature: A Symphony of Sounds" at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Center for the Arts at River Ridge, Town Center Road, New Port Richey. The program includes Symphony No. 6 in F Major, "Pastoral" by Beethoven, Vivaldi's Concerto for Flute in D Major, "Goldfinch," and excerpts from Ferde Grofe's Grand Canyon Suite. Conductor will be Susan Haig, music director of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, who has conducted the Detroit, Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Vancouver and Toronto symphony orchestras. MUSIC WITH A CAUSE: There will be a concert by singer Jeanie Fitchen at 3 p.m. Jan. 26 at Victoria's Steak House & Lounge, 17738 Broad St., just north of Brooksville. The concert is free, but donations will be taken to benefit the Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranch. Call 799-2970.

BLAST FROM THE PAST: The Fabulous '50s & Nifty '60s -- a show featuring music by former American Bandstand artist Mary Swan, Bim Brown, Marti Carroll and Lenny Summa -- will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 10470 Spring Hill Drive. Tickets are $12. Call 688-8808.

SWEETHEARTS BALL: The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce will host a Sweethearts Ball Feb. 8 at the Palace Grand, 275 Della Court (off U.S. 19), Spring Hill.
