OTTAWA -- Martin Prusek came within 5:41 of recording the Senators' fourth consecutive shutout and Marian Hossa scored his 29th and 30th goals in a 3-1 victory over the Anaheim Mighty Ducks on Thursday night.
Prusek stopped 23 of 24 shots, extending Ottawa's team-record shutout streak to 244 minutes, 47 seconds before allowing Stanislav Chistov's power-play goal with less than six minutes left.
Ottawa increased its league-leading points total to 64 in 45 games (29-10-5-1). The Senators are 24-4-4-1 since Nov. 12.
Prusek started for the first time in seven games in place of PatrickLalime, who has a 180-minute shutout streak after consecutive shutouts in Edmonton and Calgary, and against Tampa Bay.
The 27-year-old Czech rookie improved to 8-0-0 in eight starts.
RED WINGS 4, AVALANCHE 2: Host Colorado rallied from an early two-goal deficit, but a mistake by defenseman Adam Foote allowed Detroit to win its third straight in the rivalry.
The Avalanche had made a line change when Joe Sakic flipped the puck back to Foote near the door to Colorado's bench. Foote skated off and let the puck go, allowing Brendan Shanahan to beat Patrick Roy to the far post with 7:18 left.
"It's one of those things where I'm right at the bench, I have to come off," Foote said. "I wanted to touch it, but I couldn't."
ISLANDERS 3, BLUES 2 (OT): Oleg Kvasha scored on a backhander with 3:01 left in overtime for visiting New York, which had lost twice in OT in its previous four games.
Kvasha broke in on Brent Johnson and converted New York's only shot of the extra period for his fifth goal and second in three games.
Pavol Demitra forced overtime when he scored with 3:51 to go in regulation off a goalie-freezing setup from Al MacInnis.
WILD 5, CANUCKS 2: Pascal Dupuis had his first two-goal game and Marian Gaborik had a goal and three assists for host Minnesota.
The game ended with a pileup in front of the Wild bench. Replays showed Jarkko Ruutu throwing an elbow at a Wild player along the board with 2.1 seconds left. Jeremy Stevenson and Jason Marshall retaliated for Minnesota and the officials penalized all three.
FLYERS 4, CANADIENS 1: Joe Sacco, playing in his first game with host Philadelphia, scored the tiebreaker early in the third period.
Sacco, a 12-year veteran who signed a free-agent contract Wednesday, threw the puck toward the front of the net. Michal Handzus spun around, shot between his legs and hit the post. Sacco skated in and knocked in the rebound to give the Flyers a 2-1 lead at 3:04 of the final period.
FLAMES 2, PREDATORS 2: Jarome Iginla scored the tying goal and added an assist as host Calgary ended a four-game losing streak. Iginla tied the score at 4:58 of the third period -- 16 seconds after Nashville took a 2-1 lead. Iginla had a chance to win it in overtime, but he couldn't beat Tomas Vokoun on a breakaway.
OILERS 2, KINGS 0: Host Edmonton's Tommy Salo made 22 saves for his fourth shutout of the season.
ALL-STAR RESERVES: Markus Naslund, the NHL's leading goal scorer, was one of three Canucks added to the Western Conference team when the reserves were announced.
Naslund was chosen for his fourth All-Star Game along with teammates Todd Bertuzzi and defenseman Ed Jovanovski.
The Avalanche and Stars, also in the West, were the only other teams with three All-Stars chosen. Avalanche forward Peter Forsberg is an All-Star after a one-year absence, caused by a foot injury. He joins goalie Patrick Roy and defenseman Rob Blake. Marty Turco is the third Stars player, joining Bill Guerin and Mike Modano. Complete list, 9C
PANTHERS: Forward Stephane Matteau was recalled from San Antonio of the American Hockey League and forward Juraj Kolnik was reassigned to the minor-league team.
RED WINGS: Doctors removed two-thirds of team broadcaster Mickey Redmond's right lung after a malignant tumor was found. SABRES: Buffalo businessman Mark Hamister, who two months ago agreed to buy the team for about $40.7-million, said he won't complete the purchase by the league's deadline today and might ask for a third extension.
C. LEMIEUX TO STARS: The Coyotes traded right wing Claude Lemieux, 37, to the Stars for left wing Scott Pellerin and a 2004 conditional pick.
