OMAHA, Neb. -- Kyle Korver had 24 points and 11 rebounds Saturday, and Creighton overcame a 13-point first-half deficit to hand Southern Illinois its first Missouri Valley loss.
Creighton (15-1, 6-0) chipped away at a 45-37 halftime deficit as SIU didn't score on its first eight possessions of the second half.
The Bluejays got baskets from Larry House and Brody Deren and three free throws by Korver to pull to 45-44 before Darren Brooks' putback gave the Salukis (10-4, 5-1) a three-point lead.
Korver, held to one 3-pointer and seven points in the first half, then made three 3-pointers in 56 seconds. His fifth of the game, with 8:07 left, gave Creighton a 65-62 lead.
The Bluejays' lead grew to nine after Joe Dabbert scored inside and House finished an alley-oop off of a DeAnthony Bowden feed.
"We went too fast and shot too early in the shot clock and took some questionable shots," SIU coach Bruce Weber said. "Even when we got inside we just didn't finish. They could go 18-0 (in the MVC)."
UP NEXT: at Northern Iowa, 8:05 Wednesday.
