PORT RICHEY -- Pasco County sheriff's deputies were investigating a fight at a West Pasco bar that ended early Sunday morning with two brothers hospitalized with serious head injuries.
According to Pasco sheriff's Lt. Skip Stone, Richard and Sean O'Callaghan -- 26 and 18, respectively -- were leaving Critter's, 9721 U.S. 19, at 5:15 a.m. Sunday when witnesses said they got into a fight with several other men.
Stone said when sheriff's deputies arrived, they found Sean O'Callaghan lying in Scenic Drive, and his brother lying on the shoulder nearby. Both were unconscious and appeared to have wounds to their head inflicted by either a concrete block or a vehicle, Stone said.
Both men were flown to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. Richard O'Callaghan was in critical condition, and Sean O'Callaghan was in fair condition Sunday evening.
Stone said detectives were investigating the circumstances of the fight Sunday afternoon.
DADE CITY -- A 26-year-old man witnesses said broke into a home with a gun and demanded money was arrested Saturday morning when Dade City police arrested a man matching the description of the gunman.
Juan Trinidad, 14313 14th St., was arrested on Pasco Avenue by Dade City police.
According to a Pasco Sheriff's Office arrest report, witnesses said that at 11:15 p.m. Friday night a man matching Trinidad's description broke into their home on Acorn Loop, put a gun to a man's head and demanded money.
Witnesses said there was a struggle over the gun, and it fell to the floor. The gunman ran, and deputies told other law enforcement officers to be looking for a man driving a white minivan.
About 15 minutes later, Trinidad was seen driving the white minivan, and the witnesses identified him as being the gunman.
According to the report, Trinidad told deputies "You cannot prove that I did it. You did not see me."
Trinidad was being held at the Land O'Lakes jail on $300,500 bail.
NEW PORT RICHEY -- A cabbie told Pasco County sheriff's deputies that his fare tried to pay for the ride with crack cocaine, the fare's arrest report said.
Joseph A. Wyatt, 20, 8549 Broad St., was arrested early Sunday morning. According to his arrest report, the cab driver called sheriff's deputies after the man offered crack in exchange for the ride.
Deputies searched Wyatt, and found a pipe and a baggie with four white rocklike substances. Tests found that the pipe contained marijuana residue, but the other substance wasn't cocaine. Deputies were unable to figure out what the substance was.
Still, Wyatt faces a charge of sale of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held at the Land O'Lakes jail on $2,750 bail.
HUDSON -- An 18-year-old Hudson man was facing a charge of robbery and battery on a person older than 65 after witnesses said he shoved an elderly man to the ground Friday and took his wallet.
Shawn Jeffries, 8025 Hunters Whip Row, was arrested at 1:40 p.m. Friday. According to his arrest report, witnesses said they saw Jeffries push the elderly man and take his wallet at 11:57 a.m. at 12035 Little Road.
No information about the victim was available.
Jeffries, who denied taking the wallet, was taken to the Land O'Lakes jail. He was being held Sunday in lieu of $20,000 bail.
