USF St. Petersburg gains board memberBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published January 23, 2003 ST. PETERSBURG -- Pinellas County philanthropist Gus Stavros is joining the University of South Florida St. Petersburg governing board. Stavros, chairman of PELAM Investments Inc., starts immediately. "I am focusing my energy on helping USF St. Petersburg reach its potential in Pinellas County," said Stavros, who lives a few blocks from the downtown St. Petersburg campus. "I want to help USF St. Petersburg become an integral part of downtown St. Petersburg, and I want downtown St. Petersburg to be part of the campus." Stavros has been involved in numerous professional, civic and educational organizations.
