WHO HE IS: Mayor of Clearwater.

HOW HE GOT TICKETS: Aungst, who hosts the weekly cable TV call-in show Bucs Extra Point, tried to get credentials through the NFL. When that foundered, he called in a favor from a friend at the Hillsborough County Convention and Visitors Bureau. "I guess there were a couple of extra ones," he said. Aungst said he paid face value for two tickets, $400 apiece.

HIS STORY: Aungst and his 18-year-old son, Brian Jr., planned to leave Friday for Los Angeles then drive a rental car to San Diego. But first, Brian Jr. had to take a morning math exam at Florida, where he is a freshman. After the game, the pair will take the red-eye home just after midnight, putting Aungst back in time for his final TV show of the season. "I'm going to get about four hours' sleep," he said.

... who's not

WHO HE IS: Mayor of St. Petersburg.

HIS STORY: Baker plans to stay home and watch with his children. He will pay particular attention to players who went to Florida State, which he attended. "My son is a rabid Buccaneer and Seminole fan," he said, and this game will be "the best of both possible worlds" because the Bucs and former FSU players are in the Super Bowl.
