This week: CitrusBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published January 31, 2003 PLAYHOUSE 19: All Night Strut, a concert featuring the hit songs of the 1930s and '40s, has its final performances this weekend at Playhouse 19, 865 U.S. 19 S, Crystal River. Show times are 8 p.m. today and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15. Call 563-1333. CARVING: The Nature Coast Carving Club will meet at 10 a.m. on the first Friday of each month at the Lakes Region Library, 1511 Druid Road, Inverness. FOLK CONCERT: Acoustic musicians Don Haynie and Sheryl Samuel will perform at the Floral City Acoustic Music Series at the Floral City Community Building, 8370 E Orange Ave. Haynie and Samuel use percussion, six- and 12-string guitars to give their music a rhythmic drive not usually found in acoustic. LOOK AHEADROCKIN' RALLY: The annual Rock 'n Roll Rally to Remember, which benefits the Alzheimer's Family Organization, will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Plantation Inn Grounds, U.S. 19 and Fort Island Trail, Crystal River. The event includes raffles, crafters, entertainment and food. Call 628-6561. JAZZ BAND: Sonny LaRosa and America's Youngest Jazz Band will perform at 2 p.m. Feb. 8 at Curtis Peterson Auditorium in Lecanto. Tickets are $12 in advance at Brannen, Regions and SunTrust banks and $15 at the door. The show is a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Citrus County. WINE TASTING: The second annual wine-tasting fundraiser will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 7 in the courtroom of the Historic Citrus County Courthouse in Inverness. Proceeds will benefit the Old 1912 Courthouse restoration fund. Admission is $25. The tasting will showcase more than 75 new wines, and there will be hors d'oeuvres and door prizes. ART LEAGUE PLAY: This Must Be The Place, a comedy by Monk Ferris, opens for a three-weekend run on Feb. 14 at the Citrus County Art League, 2644 N Annapolis Ave., Citrus Hills. The play involves a world-famous artist who sees his romantic evening turned into a three-ring circus. Bill Halavan directs. CUB SHOW: Citrus United Basket, a food and clothes charity, will present a lunch and fashion show at noon Feb. 14 at the Crown Hotel in Inverness. MUSIC: Citrus Harmony Chorus of Sweet Adelines presents Anything Goes, a barbershop-style musical revue, at 2 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Citrus County Fairgrounds Auditorium on U.S. 41 S, Inverness. BIG BAND: The 42nd Street Band, along with celebrity impersonators Rodi Alexander singing the hits of Barbra Streisand and Gary Edwards singing the songs of Bobby Darrin, will perform at 2 and 7 p.m. Feb. 22 at Curtis Peterson Auditorium at Lecanto High. Tickets are $13 in advance at Bank Of America, Homosassa Springs Bank, Regions Bank, SunTrust Bank and all Chamber of Commerce offices. Tickets at the door are $15. ROCK CRUSHER SHOW: Country music legends the Oak Ridge Boys will perform two shows Feb. 22 at Rock Crusher Canyon amphitheater, 275 S Rock Crusher Road, Crystal River.
