INVERNESS -- Citrus' Katie Steelfox went over the 1,000-point mark for her career Thursday as the Hurricanes beat Dunnellon 64-39 at home. The senior point guard, who needed 12 points to reach the milestone, tallied 16 for the game.

Citrus coach Bruce Nelson said reaching 1,000 points was quite an honor.

"We stopped the game and we're going to all sign the ball and give her the game ball," Nelson said. "There was a bunch of folks from her church that had signs all over the gym, so it was kind of fun."

Citrus, which starts five seniors, improved to 20-4.

"That was a nice milestone, too, to get over the 20-win mark," Nelson said. "That's only happened three other times at Citrus so we're happy about it."
