He'll crack you up
You may not know his name, but standup comedian Jimmy Shubert has been around. You may recognize him from Comedy's Central's "Premium Blend" or A&E's "Comedy on the Road." He's appeared in several sitcoms and movies, with his most memorable role, critics say, as a lollypop-sucking night club bouncer in the movie Go. Now Shubert is in Carrollwood to perform his high-energy routine at Side Splitters Comedy Club. Shows are at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday and 8:30 p.m. Sunday. General admission tickets are $12 for the Friday and Saturday shows, $14 for preferred seating. Sunday show is $8 for general admission, $10.50 for preferred seating. Side Splitters is at 12938 N Dale Mabry Highway in the Cascades Shopping Plaza. Call 960-1459.
It's mayhem in the mansion for a book writer when an electrical storm brings to life stereotypical characters of a mystery novel. Join the Carrollwood Players for this witty and suspenseful production of Fred Charmichael's "Out of Sight...Out of Murder." Shows begin at 8 p.m. tonight and Saturday. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors. Call 265-4000 for reservations.
Pop audiences know Peter Stuart as the singer of the 1990s rock band Dog's Eye View. MTV viewers sang along as he belted the lyrics to the hit single "Everything Falls Apart." Now Stuart is running solo with his debut album "Propeller." Expect to hear a mixture of guitar pop and jazzy rock at his 8 p.m. performance tonight at Borders, 12500 N Dale Mabry Highway. Call 265-8455.
