A closer look: one Hillsborough churchBy CONNIE DREW© St. Petersburg Times published February 1, 2003 New Life Assembly ChurchLOCATION: 5010 12th Ave. S, Tampa; 248-4458 SERVICES: Worship services at 11 a.m. and healing services at 6 p.m. Sunday. Worship services and Bible study at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Special worship service for women the first Saturday of each month (February and March services will be held the second Saturday). Various other services weekly. LEADERSHIP: The Revs. David and Tammy Burnett, co-pastors HISTORY: The original church, believed to have been built in the 1940s or earlier, now serves as a Fellowship Hall. The current church was built in the 1950s. The church entered the International Pentecostal Holiness Church in the late 1960s. MEMBERSHIP: 25 COMMUNITY OUTREACH: Provides food and clothing to those in need, cares for the elderly in the neighborhood and makes hospital and in-home visits. Plans to start a Christian child care center and school for infants through 12th-graders in the near future.
