HOLDER -- A man was arrested Sunday on charges of soliciting for prostitution.
Burt Kidney, 69, 19080 NW 21st St., Dunnellon, was pulled over by a Citrus County sheriff's deputy about 9:30 p.m. Sunday at 6971 N Lecanto Highway (County Road 491), arrest records showed.
After issuing Kidney a traffic ticket for failure to use a turn signal, the deputy called for a specially trained Sheriff's Office drug dog to sniff around the vehicle.
The dog alerted on a passenger, Christine Emery, 44, of Beverly Hills, the records showed. A subsequent search turned up two pipes in her purse. The pipes were the type commonly used for smoking crack cocaine, the records said.
Kidney and Emery told the deputy that Kidney was going to buy some crack cocaine, and the woman would perform a sex act in exchange for the drugs, the records said.
Kidney was held on one count of soliciting for prostitution. Emery was accused of possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
Both defendants were released on recognizance, meaning there was no bail.
