Here is one of those replies. Bob PlaistedCandidate for Inverness, City Council, Seat 5 It has been an exciting four years since you elected me to my first term as your city council member. As your representative, I have kept your interests a priority in my decisions. Being accessible to you has been a major objective for which I have always pushed. Our directors in developmental services and public works have followed my lead in developing this attitude of response to your needs. Water quality was one reason I originally ran for council. I am proud that we will have accomplished this project in May, with our updated plant and an additional well on Pleasant Grove. We will also continue to upgrade water pipes as needed. I have been instrumental in: lowering taxes every year; keeping the county seat downtown; obtaining $1.97-million in grants; and easing the way for the hospital heart addition, the courthouse addition and the new county office building. My goal for completion of the park systems on Lake Henderson and Cooter Pond is moving along well. This will be an outstanding addition to our family friendly and cultural goals. I plan to develop the downtown area into a wonderful cultural center attracting more residents, businesses and tourists with our redevelopment project as the basis. I will continue to maintain sound fiscal responsibility, the core of good government. Proudly, we have also been awarded the "City of Character" designation. I look forward to continuing to serve you and I ask for your vote on Tuesday at City Hall. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
